Gravity & Flight

Gravity & Flight is a collection of sculptural origami butterfly works where delicate folded paper moves around deep painted black circles.

I am interested in the pull between weight and lightness, stillness and motion, darkness and colour. The black circle acts almost like a centre of gravity, while the butterflies create movement around it.

Process

Folded by hand

My interest in origami began when I was a kid. I started with simple models and kept folding, drawn to the patience and quiet transformation of a flat sheet of paper becoming something with life.

The current works grew from the idea of arranging origami forms into scenes: not just single models, but groups that suggest movement, direction and a moment held in place.

Commissions

Bespoke pieces

I am open to discussing bespoke origami works for gifts, homes and personal commissions. Each piece can be shaped around a particular size and format, colour palette, butterfly density, canvas colour, and whether the composition includes a black circle or alternate painted forms.
